New Construction

New Construction is split into two sub-categories; COMMERCIAL and HOUSING/ADDITIONS, each has three further sub-categories to cover all project pricing scales.

In 2021 Metropolitan and Regional entries will be split into their own divisions for this category.

COMMERCIAL New Construction is classed as projects of new commercial construction with a specific painting contract value, sub-categories are:

Commercial Construction Paint Value up to $100 000

Commercial Construction Paint Value $100 000 - $500 000

Commercial Construction Paint Value over $500 000

Entrants must demonstrate a high quality of work throughout the project.

Paint work should be:

Blemish free

No brush, roller marks, sags and runs

Adjoining surfaces must be clean

Judges will note, and witness:

Demonstration of WH&S processes.

Document control – how updates and design changes are managed

Stock Control - Were special order materials required? Was an onsite storage facility required?

Management of Sustainability – Was the project Green Star rated and are sustainable processes in place for wash up. Was a VOC footprint calculated on the project?

Degree of difficulty in application

Accessing hard to get to areas

Has a warranty been given?

Consideration will be given to:

Time constraints

Clients requirements

Overall aesthetic of the project

Scores based upon the following:

Project Management

Application

Degree of difficulty

 

HOUSING / ADDITIONS New Construction is classed as projects of new residential construction or additions (individual dwellings – i.e. individual apartment not a block of apartments), sub-categories are:

Housing/Additions Project Value Up to $30 000

Housing/Additions Project Value $30 000 - $80 000

Housing/Additions Project Value Over $80 000

Entrants must demonstrate a high quality of work throughout the project.

Paint work should be:

Blemish free

No brush, roller marks, sags and runs

Adjoining surfaces must be clean

Judges will note and witness:

The degree of difficulty in application

Accessing hard to get to areas

Presentation of the contractor

Consideration will be given to:

Time constraints

Clients requirements

The overall aesthetic of the project
