Association History
Master Painters, Decorators & Signwriters Association of Western Australia was established on the 6 September 1911. This was motivated by a desire that remains today, to ensure that training and employment of apprentices was undertaken to ensure a sustainable and strong painting & decorating industry.
In the 1900's Trade unions had taken over the affairs of the employee but the protection of the employer and apprentices was in limbo, which provided an additional impetus to develop the association to fill this void.
The Association has had 32 Presidents since its inception and has traded under two different names with the current name of Master Painters & Decorators Australia being established in September 2013.
