Renovators warned – DON’T RISK IT
Protecting owner-builders and renovators from dodgy, over-priced paint jobs is at the heart of a new campaign from Master Painters & Decorators Australia [MP&DA].
Don’t Risk It is the warning following an increase in the number of unregistered painters in the market who are leaving customers with no recourse from sub-standard painting work, valued at more than $1,000.
MP&DA CEO, Amanda Dawes, said that the start of the peak renovating period, coupled with tough economic times, had seen more unregistered painters and a rise of complaints from dissatisfied customers.
‘Unfortunately, too often customers get sucked in by appealing deals they see online [like Gumtree] and in flyers and take the painter’s word for what they promise,’ said Ms Dawes.
‘Don’t risk it. The best way owner-builders and renovators can protect themselves is by using a Master Painter for all their paint jobs.
‘This will give them peace of mind that their painter is fully qualified, police cleared, highly skilled, fully insured and has industry experience.
‘Our Master Painters also abide by the Master Painters & Decorators Australia Code of Conduct and genuinely care about customer satisfaction – they’re not itinerant workers.
‘And, in the unlikely event a customer has a concern, we can work with them to resolve the issue.’
Customers can find a local Master Painter by visiting masterpainters.asn.au/find-a-painter
The Don’t Risk It campaign will run on television and social media until mid-November.
Master Painters & Decorators Australia is the industry body for painters and decorators in Western Australia. It has more than 300 members who are registered painting professionals with high-quality workmanship.
